Hi all, just changed my clutch cable on my kawasaki z750 and now there's no tension the clutch won't engage at all, even when I manually push the clutch rod to the correct position soon as I put it in gear it jumps forward and stalls, any ideas guys as I'm stumped, cheers

changing just clutch cable shouldnt of effected the clutch , i find it strange you can engage clutch by pushing the clutch arm you must be very strong if im correct the force required to engage clutch couldnt be done by hand maybe wrong.

try this slacked off cable wind both clutch lever adjustment and clutch arm adjustment to there lowest, first turn clutch lever adjustment out few turns say 10mm out now finger press clutch arm in till it stops no force now tighten cable at clutch end till it holds the arm were finger push had it now go to lever pull lever should be tight and firm, if not id inspect clutch if so wind clutch lever adjustment in 2 turns. now push bike to a wall so front tyre is touching start bike clutch in put in first if it works adjust clutch lever adjustment to correct freeplay.

There's no engagement at all of the clutch, I found it a bit odd being able to push the arm, there's just nothing there at all, but before I changed the cable it bit without issue, just my old cable was at the max adjustment on the bars, propper stumped me this, looking like it's gonna have to go in I'm propper gutted

My guess would be the new cable is wrong.
Too long....?
This assumes it's fitted correctly.

Unclip the cable from the clutch rod and you can twist the rod backwards and you should be able to pull the rod out so you can inspect it. My old zx6 went through a couple clutch rods

Lee are you saying you can actually engage the clutch by pushing the rod?

If so your clutch springs have gone or the cap to the basket/thrust bearing has worn through/snapped off.
