S&S Vs Harley Engine

Has anyone on here ridden both a big Harley and a big S&S engined bike? What are the engines like compared to each other?

S&S seem to focus on performance so perhaps I wouldn't like them the same for that Harley itch, but would be interested in anyone's experience

Cheers

Haha, pair of knobs

So then, are you too cool or too fast for a Harley?

Neither they just don't do it for me don't like the riding position but each to their own.

As im now mature enough (41) I understand the harley thing.

Well the style of bikes anyway.

But the whole harley club mentality puts me off.

I think if I could only have one bike it wouldn't be a Harley, but that and something a bit sportier would be great. I enjoy them at low speeds, but realistically its a few years away at best so I'm just dreaming at the mo

One or two have come up with s&s engine, but I don't know anyone with experience of them

Do you not find that people on bikes in general put you off anyway? You've got the race rep 'fast men' doing wheelies in residential areas on bike meet night, BMW riders with rent a cop looking gear, Harleys certainly have a 'look'...

I don't want the 'lifestyle' or whatever it is Harley is promoting at the moment to cash in on the mid life crisis market, I just really enjoy the engines, and would love to pootle around at a sedate pace enjoying the roads and scenery... I'm definitely getting old

I've no experience of Indian, but have been on a victory and stupid as it sounds it was just too 'good'. It was much revvier and faster than a Harley, but that's not what I want one for so i was quite disappointed - in most ways it was better so I can see why people like them, but not the itch I'm looking to scratch I guess
