2 stroke engineer needed in the Northwest
Looking frantically for months for someone who can split my crankshaft and press off both flywheels, the conrod and then fit a new con rod and press the flywheels back on, true them up as they are concentric, tack wels and then charge me the earth.

Grampian refused to do mine as they couldn't supply the parts needed. I got the parts, they still wouldn't touch it unless they supplied the parts. Very frustrating. The guy who eventually did it in Widnes can't take any more customers, far too busy. Dying breed these engineers. Hope you get sorted.

second that for Grampian refusing. I asked before i bought her and they said yeah. Bought her and they said 'we only do Jap bikes now'. FML. Met a local old guy in his 89's but he's suffering with severe vertigo and just can't hack being in the workshop no more as he keeps falling, bless him, lovely chap too with lots of uber nice Velocette 500's and BSA 500's etc for sale.Classic rider wrote:Grampian refused to do mine as they couldn't supply the parts needed. It might be worth trying Newtons Engineers. Smith Street Liverpool. 01517272609. We have a job with them for hubbies velocette since April, it's still not ready, but at least it's in the pipeline.

My uncle has 2 classic BSA which he strips and rebuilds. He's built up a network of engineers, chrome and paint shops etc. I may see him Monday so I'll see what I can get hold of. If memory serves he had his last one done in Birmingham (which is of little use I know)

Try getting onto http://www.125ccsportsbikes.com/forums/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and asking around. Lots of died-in-the-wool 2-stroke nutters on there so someone may be able to give you a good recommendation

I can ask a friend who builds/makes JAP engines, I'm pretty sure he can help.
