Er.. I would expect a retaliation if I started hitting a bloke? A beating is a beating, give as good as you get. Tell him to grow a pair and get the knuckle dusters out.

all you can really do is let him know that you are there if he needs any help or support.
you can't force his hand and make him or try and make him report it, thrust me that will probably backfire on you, have seen the fallout from this and it can get fookin' messy.

if you let me know roughly where he lives i'll see if i can find anyone local you or he can talk to for help and support.

is she a drinker or drug user?

Shame this. I'm not into women but had a rough b/f once. Left him after threatening to put him through a large window. He must of had issues from a previous life. Never seen the blood drain out of a face so quick. So moved on. Never have seen violence as an answer but sometimes a suprise slap works but only a short quick and not too hard slap. (More of a tp) can get someone out of their streak. If it kicks off. Then walk away. You don't need to protect your own back while thinking your in love with someone, that's not love. :)
