Re: Another impulse buy CX500
I actually have a mono shock in the garage too, need another welder as i sold mine a few years ago/ could easy tac something together to do many mock ups. Better with a welder than photo shop on my phone all day.Stumoores wrote:Mono shock conversion would facilitate that line nicely. This next bit will define the rest I guess. I’m chopping and frame modding mine soon. I’m hoping to be in the powder coaters by mid February. Cheers for posting this Will, I need some motivation in this cold dark miserable month.

Cleaner lines, i do like the twin shocks of that vintage so probably stick with them.
Doing a pie-cut and braised exhaust, i know that for sure.
Also HD handle bar controls, LED bit not as you’d think headlight (looks almost standard Hella H4 type)
Rear sets, murrays carbs if i can afford them
Moto gadget wiring to make it all neat and the tank off my Harley up front. (Selling the OEM CX custom tank to pay for the carbs)

Just linked you to a welder on Fb.rumpoldstilskin wrote: ↑12 Jan 2019, 19:47
Mocking up the rear to see how tall i want it- the maggot as standard is for those a little short in the leg i think.
Most likely route i’m taking. Parts are arriving daily so i just need to find a good welder/fabricator locally who is good and is also not a rip off merchant.

Kind of off topic really, but custom old Honda so thought you'd like it... Really like the exhaust on it

I’ve owned its smaller brother, the CB400 4. Love that exhaust.Clarkey wrote:Kind of off topic really, but custom old Honda so thought you'd like it... Really like the exhaust on it

Re: Another impulse buy CX500
Found the rear end i’ll have copied
Re: Another impulse buy CX500
The original tank and USD forks throw the eye a bit I think. That rear sub is not that far from standard height. It’s not as simple as most folk think this custom game is it ? Using other builds for inspiration is defo the way forward.
That CB500 is the dogs bollox apart from the Akro sticker on the end can (or is it just me ?)

Revving the bollox off it since 1982
Re: Another impulse buy CX500
I'd not noticed that until you mentioned it... Yup, looks really out of sync with the rest of the bike imoStumoores wrote:The original tank and USD forks throw the eye a bit I think. Looks great to. Just needs an air cooled engine.
